2011 Curriculum!

The research is done ... the decisions are made ... my order is placed!

And I can hardly wait for the books to come in...

Here's our lineup for 2011!

the main course - Tapestry of Grace

It is:
unit-studies, literature-based, Charlotte Mason- and Classical Education- inspired

a survey of the Bible and World History are the spine of its lessons

a thorough education of Christian Worldview

The main objective of the curric is to show how all of history is really HIStory...God's story... from the moment He created this world, and has been revealing Himself to all of humanity through history ever since.

It is, by far, the richest, meatiest, full-curricula that I have found like it - and I know that I will be learning just as much as the kiddos are!  We used this once, several years ago, when General was in 2nd grade & we loved it then, but decided to save studying World History for when he was older.  That time has come, and I can't wait to dig in!

For science, we'll be studying Apologia's Anatomy & Physiology for elementary grades together as a family.  There are resources for notebooking and lapbooking to go along with each book, and I think we'll put those to use this year!

Skills currics for General:
Math: Saxon
Spelling: Spelling Power
Penmanship: A Reason for Handwriting
Grammar: Abeka

Skills currics for Rose:
Math: Right Start
Spelling: All About Spelling
Penmanship: A Reason for Handwriting
Grammar: Easy Grammar

Preschool for Little Monkey:
He'll be able to follow along with our unit studies a little bit, with age-appropriate books and activities...but for a little extra preschool work if we need it, I found these great little workbooks through a dear friend, from Rod & Staff publishers...

...they're very simple & very inexpensive - just what I was looking for!

I ordered everything a little early this year so I could have the whole summer to prepare lessons....I can't wait to get started!!

  1. (grrrr. blogger just ate my comment!!!)
this comment will be much shorter! Ilovethis post i am doing the same thing -- hope to post minesoon!
(also nursing at the same time, so pardon the typos!)

  2. I have heard great things about Tapestry of Grace. Looks like you have a great plan for the upcoming year.
I am also thinking about what we will be doing in the upcoming year. We have two curriculum sales I will be going to soon and I really need to get my list ready.

  3. oooo! Love planning... love the smell of new books and school supplies! Love taking inventory of where the kids are at: strengths and weaknesses, and how to encourage growth in both areas. AND, you got it done early :>) Must be satisfying. Enjoy the assignment of motherhood!

  4. You have a good plan down.

I really need to get on the band wagon with you and begin to order things to plan this summer too.

    You've motivated and encouraged me;)

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! Things are pretty busy around our house, so I can't always leave as many replies as I would like to. But please know that I look forward to reading every note you send my way - they brighten my day! Blessings,Collette
